with immediate effect, for an indefinite period, for a

Head of Central Catering Management for Berlin Prisons (m/f/d)

Pay grade: E14 TV-L
Full-time with 39.4 hours per week

Your area of responsibility includes:

Technical and organizational management, in particular
  • Managing and ensuring quality standards and processes in the daily provision of meals with regard to economic, qualitative and nutritional aspects by developing and implementing future-oriented concepts.
  • Managing and ensuring a crisis-proof food supply for the (daily up to 4500) prisoners/inmates.
  • Initiating and participating in the planning of structural maintenance measures for the ZVM’s institutional kitchens.
  • Monitoring compliance with legal requirements in the area of responsibility.
  • Management and (further) development of a reliable reporting and key performance indicator system and its controlling, applying transparent administrative action.
  • Management and implementation of an internal meeting system and participation in external meetings.
Personnel management (direct management responsibility for 7 employees; a further 27 employees in the institutional kitchens), in particular
  • Management of job/staffing requirements.
  • Initiation of job advertisements and job selection decisions.
  • Managing the deployment of staff.
  • Management and implementation of personnel measures and personnel development measures.
Responsibility for resources (budget responsibility approx. € 5 – 6 million/year), in particular
  • Preparing and registering budget funds as part of the budget preparation process for the budget items to be managed and for investment planning.
  • Control and management of the assigned budget titles and investment planning.
  • Authorization to issue orders and legal power of representation for the area of central catering management.

You have...

  • Completed university degree in business administration (diploma or master’s degree) with a focus on gastronomy management or food management or proven comparable qualification.
  • Experience in the management and control of larger catering businesses (e.g. clinics, retirement and nursing homes, canteens).
  • In addition, the following are desirable: Several years (at least 3 years) of experience in the management and control of larger catering operations (at least 2,000 catering participants).

  • In addition to flexible working hours, there is also the possibility of alternating teleworking (taking into account official requirements), so we ensure that you can organize your professional and private life according to your personal ideas.
  • The job is graded in pay group 14 TV-L. Applicants who do not have the required university degree, but who can be admitted as „other employees“ on the basis of proven equivalent skills and experience, will be classified in pay group 14 TV-L.
  • Otherwise, classification in pay group 13 TV – L is envisaged. Please provide evidence of your skills and expertise in the form of references and proof of qualifications. Assignment to an experience level within the pay group will be based on your personal requirements.
  • You may be taken on as a civil servant at a later date if you meet the career requirements for the second entry level of career group 2 of the General Administrative Service.
